Large Data Centers Pending in Rockford & DeKalb Areas

Large data center locations have been proposed in the area south of the Rockford Airport, on the east side of Cherry Valley along US Bypass 20, and in DeKalb south of the ChicagoWest Business Center. Monarch Energy is planning a $12 billion data center development south of the Chicago Rockford International Airport. The plan for the facility is on Monarch’s website: https://monarch.energy/datacenters/ The Cherry Vallley data center was proposed by Microsoft in August 2024 and the company has indicated that construction is still in the planning stage. Edged, a subsidiary of Endeavour Energy, has received City of DeKalb approval for a 560-acre data center project code-named Project Vector. Rochelle has also reported that it is under consideration for data centers.
